Advice regarding Documentary Photography
- Ensure that there are 2 photographs of each subject. Secure them at different locations (like on a hard disk and on work)
- Sometimes the photographer might be dissatisfied at the end of the day. In such a situation, he/she should plan to re-shoot. During a re-shoot, he/she is conversant with the subjects and this results in better photos
- At times, the photographer feels he/she is not sufficiently creative. It is advisable to take a 15 minutes break and have a drink that would enhance the energy level. By doing this, one can overcome the creative block and have renewed energy for further work
- Make it a point to spend more time with the subject on the location. It is observed that when the time spent is more, this results in more photo opportunities
- Never attempt to break the orders regarding the permission to shoot as this would result in a bad reputation
- During a shoot, the photographer must be very sociable. He/She must talk with the persons around to develop a rapport with them. Due to this, the persons would feel relaxed. This connection that the photographer has made with the subjects would certainly produce good results
- De-motivation results in an unsuccessful shoot. If the photographer arrives at the spot before time and his/her body language is filled with enthusiasm, the people around would respect such a person
Advertisement - A photographer must always develop his/her own techniques and stimulate his/her innate creativity. For this, it is essential to get inspired by viewing photos of other photographer on the net, in magazines and in books. After doing so, each photographer must try to determine the secret as to why a specific photo looks impressive
