Photography Equipment

The term "photography equipment" usually implies the following.

However, not all of these should be always carried by the photographer. The equipment that should be carried depends on which types of pictures are to be captured and the location where the photographer is heading for.

Fundamental Photography Equipment needed in most conditions

Camera Bag

• This is for the security of the camera and other equipment
• The camera, memory cards, flash, lenses and other accessories are held securely in a padded atmosphere
• This bad safeguards the contents from quickly fluctuating temperatures, rain and breakage
• Carrying many items simultaneously is facilitated due to this bag

Flash

• Several cameras have an in-built or on-board flash. However, these have limited power
• If the photographer maintains an additional flash, it becomes feasible to capture photos of objects that are even 20 feet away
• Carrying a flash ensures that the photographer is prepared for low-light conditions

Filters

• An Ultraviolet (UV) filter is essential to safeguard the costly lens. Moreover, there is no noticeable alteration in the images
• The front portion of any camera lens is vulnerable to damage and dirt. When these filters are purchased, they must be attached to the front of the lens

Lenses

• For general purpose photography, it is recommended to carry a 28-80 mm lens and a 70-300 mm lens
• A telephoto lens is identical to a pair of binoculars for the camera
• A wide angle lens enables to have a large field of vision
• There are many photographers who carry minimum 2 lenses
• Some cameras have interchangeable lenses and the photographer has to decide which lens must be utilized
• The lens may be interchangeable or in-built

Tripod

• This equipment offers a robust support to the camera
• It opens up a completely new world of slow shutter photography
• If the camera is hand-held, long time exposures can't be taken sharply and such exposures become possible with a tripod
• It is possible to capture scenes when the light is less to such an extent that an exposure requires several seconds
• The photographer can employ small apertures for maximum depth of field at slow shutter speeds
• The digital camera can be used with low sensitivity settings or very slow films
